Why Weatherization?
Our weatherization efforts modify an existing building or home to reduce energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency. For example, imagine a big brand-new air conditioner pumping cold or heat into your home, yet quickly escaping your home through inadequate insulation. Also, A/C ducts not correctly sealed, or gaps around windows and doors. All of those reasons and more lead to wasted energy, and higher utility payments. While each area or utility company may have different programs and services for their respective weatherization program, most utility companies offer rebates or zero-cost solutions to their customers so they can reduce or stop wasting energy.
Energy Saving Solutions
Utility companies across Florida, including in Tallassee recognize that not everyone may be able to make much-needed energy efficient upgrades to their homes. The answer was to create programs that offer an array of rebates or zero-cost energy saving solutions. Alternative Energy Applications (AEA) has proudly partnered with Capital Area Community Action Agency to help families. With reducing heating and cooling costs and improving the energy efficiency of the home. Measures may include:
Insulation
AEA provides various insulation services. Some of our products include loose fill fiberglass insulation, cellulose, fiberglass batts, and open-cell & closed-cell spray foam.
Duct Seal
In a home or building with an air heating and cooling system, ducts are used to distribute conditioned air throughout your home or building. However, EnergyStar.gov estimates 20 to 30 percent of that conditioned air is lost. Due to leaks, holes, or poorly connected ducts resulting in higher utility bills. Also, difficulty keeping the house environment comfortable, no matter the setting on your thermostat.
Air Infiltration
Weatherization efforts increase the energy efficiency of your home by slowing down the transfer of heat or A/C. AEA address air-infiltration with (weather stripping, caulking thresholds, and around window and doors.
Home Weatherization
